I can't believe how much this weather alert radio can do. Right now it is set to report on the three nearby counties here in The Villages, FL. Just the other day when a large weather system was passing through it alerted us to severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, lightening, hail, high winds, tornado watches and warnings (2) and flood warnings from the 8 inches of rain we got. It's very easy to program and worth it's weight in gold.
Spring is a stormy time of year and I was repeatedly punished for being frugal. I thought I'd save a little money and buy the cheaper model with fewer features and I IMMEDIATELY regretted it. It was just a matter of time before I kicked that radio into submission. Yes, I was able to set it for the specific county I was in but not which types of alerts it alarmed for. I was frequently awoken by the cascade of frivolous alerts, "you are in a thunderstorm watch, thunderstorm warning, flash flood watch, flash flood warning". It alarms no more. Back to the drawing board.
I Have one in my home and sincerly believe that everyone should have one no matter where they live. This radio was purched as a gift for our granddaughter and her family. I have purchased several of these radios, as gifts, and been happy with their performance. They can be a lifesaver. Recommended.
Great purchase. Am so glad to have this little device. I highly recommend it.
The thing lights up the whole bedroom at night. There are only two settings - on and off.
It seems to be working. I have had this product for two weeks now.
The only thing I would change on this radio is the light controls on the display. There has been no violent weather yet, so I don't know for sure it works.
The weekly test transmissions have been received, and I like the fact that the alarm did not go off. I wish there was a way to set the intensity.
I like the idea of having a clock you can see in the dark, but does it have to be so bright you can see it through your closed eyelids.
